The decision to divorce affects not only the couple involved but also the lives that surround them. While all marriages weather their share of storms, specific signs indicate it could be time to think about divorce.

Marriage demands constant work, patience and understanding. If these efforts yield no results, then perhaps a reassessment is in order. According to Forbes, 75% of divorces list a lack of commitment as the main cause. Here are some signs that might suggest you may want to consider divorce.

Loss of trust

Broken trust, whether from infidelity or persistent dishonesty, can breed deep resentment leading to divorce. Shattered trust makes it tough to rebuild, often creating an unending cycle of doubt and suspicion.

If you find trust in your spouse impossible to reestablish despite your best efforts, it might be time to contemplate divorce.

Constant conflict and disrespect

Every relationship experiences arguments, but constant conflict suggests deeper issues. Persistent disagreements, particularly those spiraling into disrespectful exchanges, signal a serious problem. If conflict, not peace and love, dominates your interactions with your spouse and respect no longer exists, divorce might be an option to consider.

Lack of emotional and physical intimacy

A healthy marriage needs both emotional and physical intimacy. While it is normal for passion to ebb and flow in a relationship, a long period of emotional and physical disconnect might signal a need for change.

Making a decision to divorce is serious and life-altering and should not be impulsive. However, if these signs persist in your marriage and reconciliation efforts have proven fruitless, divorce might be a consideration.
